The impact of Comprehensive Sexuality Education

FPA Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Legal Aid Commission conducted a Comprehensive Sexuality Education(CSE) programme for the staff belonging to the BOI Free Trade Zone in Seethawaka. The resource person engaged for this event was Dr. Dayanath Ranatunga

Delivering age-appropriate, scientifically-accurate information about Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) to young people in and out of school is important and necessary. CSE provides an understanding of SRHR in the broader context of young people’s lives, to equip them with the knowledge and life skills they need to make informed decisions: to mitigate vulnerabilities, and to protect their health, well-being and rights.

What Are the Benefits of CSE?
• Increases knowledge about different topics such as Gender, SRH, STI’s and HIV , Sexual rights and citizenship, Violence , Diversity and Relationships
• Reduces risky sexual behaviors, can protect adolescents and young people from HIV and STI’s by improving attitudes related to SRH
• Can reduce adolescent and youth vulnerabilities to violence, by promoting bodily integrity and respect, self-confidence and negotiation skills.
