Premature Ejaculation

What is Premature Ejaculation?

Premature Ejaculation (PE) occurs when ejaculation happens sooner than desired, often within about one minute of penetration, causing personal or interpersonal distress.

Types of PE

  • Lifelong: Present since first sexual experiences

  • Acquired: Develops later due to health or psychological factors

Possible Causes

  • Psychological: anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties

  • Biological: hormonal imbalances, neurotransmitter issues, inflammation of prostate or urethra

Symptoms

  • Ejaculation with minimal stimulation

  • Inability to delay ejaculation

  • Negative feelings for self or partner

Management and Treatment

  • Behavioral techniques like ‘stop-start’ and ‘squeeze’ methods

  • Counseling or sex therapy to address emotional causes

  • Open communication with partner and healthcare provider

  • Delaying medication – Tablets/Cream/gel/Condoms-Stamina

Outlook

Many men improve with treatment and regain control over ejaculation timing.
