Low Libido

What is Low Libido?

Low libido means a reduced interest in or desire for sexual activity. It affects both men and women and can be temporary or long-lasting.

Physical Causes

  • Hormonal changes (low testosterone, menopause)

  • Chronic illnesses (diabetes, thyroid problems)

  • Medications (antidepressants, blood pressure drugs)

  • Fatigue, poor diet, lack of exercise, substance use

Psychological Causes

  • Stress, anxiety, depression

  • Relationship issues

  • Past trauma or unresolved conflicts

  • Negative body image

Symptoms

  • Less frequent sexual thoughts or fantasies

  • Reduced initiation of sex

  • Lack of pleasure during sexual activity

Addressing Low Libido

  • Identify and treat underlying medical or psychological causes

  • Hormone therapy if needed

  • Counseling or therapy to improve mental health and relationships

  • Lifestyle changes to improve overall health
