Infection Of The Urinary System (UTI)

When germs build up in your urinary tract and infect you, you have a urinary tract infection (UTI).

This may impact:

  • The bladder - The most prevalent type of UTI is known as cystitis.
  • The urethra (where your urine comes out). It is known as urethritis.
  • The kidneys. The most serious form of this is pyelonephritis.

A UTI: HOW DOES IT OCCUR?

The urethra and bladder get inflamed when bacteria from the area around your anus enters them, which is the most frequent method to develop a UTI.

The most frequent times for this to occur are after wiping after using the restroom or after having sex.

Anyone can develop a UTI, but women are more vulnerable due to the manner their body is set up with the urethra close to the anus.

Additional reasons that may raise your chance of developing a UTI include:

  • not adequately emptying your bladder
  • being pregnant
