The Youth Network for Health – Puttalam recently gathered for an energizing and engaging session designed to strengthen connections and build a shared vision among its members. Through interactive activities, the youth participants deepened their understanding of one another, practiced effective communication, and fostered a strong team spirit. Together, they established their core values: Respect, Responsibility, Inclusion & Equality, Teamwork, and Learning & Growth.

Comprehensive Sexuality Education Roll-Outs in Puttalam and Kalpitiya

The Youth Network for Health – Puttalam thereafter, carried out successful one-day roll-out sessions on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), led by youth trainers trained by Consultant Ms. Hazel Rajiah-Tetteh from P&H Consulting for youth from Puttalam and Kalpitiya MOH areas. 

In Puttalam, youth participants explored Rights, Values, and Boundaries while discussing how to protect their own rights and those of others. The session fostered confidence and set the groundwork for meaningful conversations about sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice.

Meanwhile, in Kalpitiya, youth engaged in a vibrant session focused on cybersecurity alongside core CSE topics. Discussions covered phishing, scams, cyber-sexual harassment, password protection, privacy settings, and the dangers of picture and AI misuse. Through role plays, dramas, and real-life case studies, participants also examined gender equality, including challenges faced by male victims.

Both sessions were conducted in Tamil, creating a comfortable space for open dialogue and learning. The youth trainers left feeling empowered and ready to share these crucial messages within their communities, promoting respect, safety, and equality both online and offline.

Supported by RFSU – IPPF Sweden and guided by Project Consultant Ms. Desaree Soysa, the network is ready to take on this vital work to the communities they serve.
