Youth Skills Camps: Innovative learning on health, wellbeing and dignity

The world is home to the largest generation of young people in history. They are diverse, they have opportunities, but they also face immense obstacles in their lives. Young people and adolescents need to be able to make informed decisions and have access to sexual and reproductive health education, information, and services.

Comprehensive sexuality education aims to equip children and young people with knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that will empower them to: realize their health, well-being and dignity; develop respectful social and sexual relationships; consider how their choices affect their own well-being and that of others; and, understand and ensure the protection of their rights throughout their lives.

We have partnered with UNFPA Sri Lanka to conduct a  series of 24 camps that will be conducted in each District, engaging approximately 1200 young persons. The camps have been designed to engage young people in skills training on SRH, bodily autonomy, puberty, gender-based violence and related information and services while dispelling SRH myths and misconceptions.
