In Sri Lanka, where communities regularly face floods, landslides, tropical cyclones and other emergencies, access to essential health services can be disrupted, placing vulnerable communities at greater risk.

A two-day SRHiE Training was successfully conducted on 22nd and 23rd August at the National Youth Services Council, Maharagama, under the IPPF SPRINT Project, bringing together 25 young participants to strengthen their knowledge and capacity in emergency preparedness and response.

Led by Dr. Novil Wijesekara, Consultant – Epidemiology Unit, Ministry of Health, the training explored Sexual and Reproductive Health in Emergencies (SRHiE), the importance of preparedness, protecting the health and dignity of vulnerable populations during crises, and the role of young people in building resilient communities.

By equipping young people with essential knowledge and practical skills, we continue to invest in a future where communities are better prepared for emergencies and sexual and reproductive health remains a priority, even during times of crisis.
