The first consultative meeting for the implementation plan of the National Adolescent and Youth Health (AYH) Strategy 2026–2031 was held on 10th July at the Family Health Bureau, bringing together youth representatives and organisations committed to improving adolescent and youth health in Sri Lanka.
The upcoming strategy focuses on six key sub-strategies, including drug prevention, access to sexual and reproductive health education and services, and reducing preventable adolescent and youth mortality.
Representing FPA Sri Lanka, youth participants from the staff, Board, Youth Ambassadors, and youth networks including the Youth Network for Health in Nuwara Eliya and Puttalam that are supported by RFSU – IPPF Sweden, actively contributed their perspectives alongside representatives from various youth organisations, including the Youth Action Network and the National Youth Corps.
The consultative meeting provided an important platform for young people to share their experiences, ideas, and priorities, helping to ensure that the new Strategy is responsive, inclusive, and reflective of the needs of adolescents and youth across Sri Lanka.
