Our focus is to eliminate unsafe abortions and expand the current service access to match the global minimum standards.
We are advocating for an amendment to the current Law on abortion to legalize abortion in instances of rape, incest, and fetal abnormalities.
SOGIE (sexual orientation and gender identity and expression)
Sensitize policy and decision makers to reduce stigma, discrimination, and enhance equal access to services for all sexual minorities /communities.
The current Penal Code in Sri Lanka, section 365 and 365A are used to criminalise homosexuality in Sri Lanka and we are advocating for this law to be repealed.

Sexual and Gender Based Violence
Early and Child Marriage
- Work to develop laws and policies that will enable the reduction of teenage pregnancies and early/child marriage.FPA Sri Lanka is advocating for reforms to the Muslim Marriage and Divorce Act (MMDA), so as to ensure that there is a uniform age of marriage of 18 years, for all Sri Lankan citizens.
- Bridging the gap between personal laws and local and international laws and standards.
Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)
FPA Sri Lanka denounces female circumcision in any form that is practiced on infants and children under the age of 18 years. We strongly believe that this practice violates Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of women and are advocating for policy changes to ban FGM in Sri Lanka.
Family Planning 2020 (FP2020)
Advocate for FP2020 commitment to be well resourced and implemented.
Humanitarian
Main focus is people affected by a humanitarian crisis, such as natural disasters ( landslide, floods, drought etc) and any other man made conflict.

Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE)

Advocating for Island-wide CSE programmes to be implemented in schools

Supporting the Government to develop suitable age appropriate curricular and teacher parent guides in all three languages

Providing training and capacity building to teachers to deliver CSE in schools

Using different youth platforms to deliver CSE programmes to young adults and out of school youth.
