SKPA-2 Kick-Off Meeting - Launch of the second phase of The Sustainability of HIV Services for Key Populations in Southeast Asia (SKPA-2) project)

The event marked the commencement of a new three-year project cycle (1 July 2022 to 30 June 2025) of the Global Fund Supported Regional Grant implemented in Sri Lanka by The Family Planning Association of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Health, managed by the principal recipient, the Australia Federation of AIDS organizations (AFAO). Many officials from NSACP, CSO organization members, project consultants and other stakeholders were present at this event.

The Global Fund is in a transitioning stage where a shift in responsibility from the donor to the government to continue delivering services to Key Populations (KPs) is underway. The SKPA2 project intends to guide this transition, where Sri Lanka's government takes full responsibility for service delivery.

Key speakers were; Thushara Agus, Executive Director FPASL, Felicity Young, AFOA Principal Director (shared an overview of SKPA2), Dr. Lakshmi Somatunga, CCM Representative (shared remarks on the project), Rasanjalee Hettiarachchi, Director NSACP, Dr. Sathya Herath, KP Coordinator NSACP, Dr. K. A. M. Ariyarathna, Coordinator Strategic Information, Manju Hemal, KP Focal Point - MSM and the open floor discussion was moderated by Jake Oorloff, Program Officer SKPA2.

The SKPA 2 Programme objectives are:
