Outreach Unit targets grassroots level of society

In September 2015 the United Nations adopted a plan for achieving a better future for all. At the heart of "Agenda 2030" are the Sustainable Development Goals. Central to both the SDGs and FPA Sri Lanka are aspects such as good health and well-being for all: Gender Equality and Human Rights.  Through the Outreach Unit's activities via the Service Delivery Points and Mobile clinics, sexual and reproductive health services are provided to all levels of society, reaching the poor, marginalised, socially stigmatised, and under-served communities.

It is evident that integrating family planning services with other health services (cervical and breast cancer screening, provision of lab tests for diabetes, blood pressure and BMI testing , counselling services for sexual gender based violence and sexual and reproductive health issues etc.) is an effective way of reaching the poorest and most marginalized women and girls.

Such mobile clinics were carried out recently in the months of April and May in Batticaloa, Matara, Koggala and Nuwara-Eliya enabling easy access to a variety of high quality sexual and reproductive health services and information.
