Launch of the ‘Know It Own It’ campaign

It is young people's right to be able to access information that will enable them to have a healthy relationship, avoid an unplanned pregnancy or protect themselves from sexually transmitted infections such as HIV.

As such, FPA Sri Lanka is launching the ‘Know It Own It’ campaign underscoring the importance of access to Comprehensive Sexuality Education for all.
State Minister Vasantha Senanayake (UNP), Member of Parliament Bimal Ratnayake (JVP) and Member of the Western Provincial Council Malsha Kumaratunga (SLFP) are expected to be present at the event and make statements underscoring the importance of access to comprehensive sexuality education.

Furthermore, special invitees including Former Sri Lanka Cricket Captain Tilakaratne Dilshan will join the event to endorse our call for comprehensive sexuality education for all.

The Know It Own It campaign launch will coincide with a 6-a side cricket tournament and a quiz competition marking World AIDS Day and the 16 days of Activism against gender based violence.

The event, which is organized by the Youth Technical Advisory Committee of the Family Planning Association Sri Lanka in partnership with Hashtag Generation and Youth Advocacy Network of Sri Lanka is expected to raise awareness on HIV & AIDS among young Sri Lankans and address the stigma and discrimination faced by those living with HIV so that they could live a life of dignity and enjoy equal access to opportunity.

If you care about young people's access to comprehensive sexuality education, HIV awareness and addressing gender based violence or if you just like to learn more about these issues and what you could do to make a difference; join us on Saturday, the 3rd of December 2016 at the Bloomfield Ground from 8.45 AM.
