FPA Sri Lanka works with the Ministry of Health on HIV Prevention and elimination from Sri Lanka and access to condoms is seen as a major initiative that will promote safe sex and reduce the incidence of HIV/STD’s and unwanted pregnancies in the country.

To this end, with funding from the International Planned Parenthood Federation, we partnered with Vendable, a subsidiary of CBA and customized the design of the machine to enable a cashless transaction which is more user friendly and will deter vandalism.

The vending machine named Vendom has six varieties of condoms and is sold at the usual market rate of Rs 50.00 per pack.

Presently access is available only to Dialog mobile customers but further plans are underway to expand reach to other networks and other areas such as Negombo, Hikkaduwa which are popular tourist destinations as well as to public locations such as the Railway Stations and the Pettah Bus Stand.
