What is contraception?

People who engage in sex but want to avoid pregnancy must use a contraceptive method (birth control method). Contraception prevents pregnancy by interfering with the normal process of ovulation, fertilization, and implantation. The different types of methods act at different point in the process. There are contraceptive methods for women and men. The range of methods available makes it easy for a couple to choose the one that suits them best.

 

How can I ensure that I won’t get pregnant?

The only 100 % reliable way not to get pregnant is not to have sex. This is called abstinence.

 

What is an emergency contraceptive?

An emergency contraceptive prevents pregnancy if taken within 72 hours of having sex. It has a high concentration of hormones and is not recommended for use on a regular basis.

What is a condom?      

A condom is a thin rubber sheath worn on a man's penis during sexual intercourse A condom is the only method that prevents a pregnancy and STI /HIV at the same time.

Does a condom reduce sexual pleasure?

Many males prefer not to use a condom because they wrongly be
