Civil society shadow report on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)

The Family Planning Association of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA), took the initiative to submit a civil society shadow report on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) for 2017. Accordingly, discussions were held at national and district levels to gauge the opinions of the public and experts in the field in order to develop the report.

The report, inclusive of recommendations for policy reform in SRHR, has now been submitted to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner on Human Rights. A stakeholder meeting was convened on the 28th of April in order to strengthen advocacy for SRHR in Sri Lanka in light of the UPR process.

At this meeting, a panel discussion comprising AmbikaSathkunanathan–Human Rights Commission, Sri Lanka, SwarnaSumanasekara – Chairperson, National Committee on Women
BhavaniFonseka - Senior Researcher, Centre for Policy Alternatives took place and was moderated by Mr Senel Wanniarachchi, Senior Manager Advocacy and Communications and Youth Focal Point of FPA Sri Lanka.
