Capacity building workshop for students of Law and Human Rights

The Family Planning Association of Sri Lanka conducted a capacity building workshop for students of Law and Human Rights in collaboration with the Centre for the Study of Human Rights of the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo on 28th of June 2016. Technical hub representing, health, law enforcement and legal sector & Community advocates from the Community Role Models Hub( CRMH) of the FPA Sri Lanka's Multi-Country South Asia (GFMSA) HIV programme funded by Global Fund conducted sessions with the objective of:

  • Sensitizing the students of Law and Human Rights on critical human rights issues faced by the LGBTI community, including Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) and transgender communities in Sri Lanka.
  • Enabling the recognition of the essential role of the judiciary in achieving positive health and social outcomes at national level.
  • Building the capacity of the students of Law and Human Rights to work as active partners in the national HIV response.
  • Promoting alliances and partnerships between the Legal Sector and civil society partners.

Participants at the workshop included students of Law and Human Rights at the Centre for Human Rights of the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo.
