Strategic Focus > Access
Although Sri Lanka in comparison to other countries in the region possesses impressive socio-economic, health and demographic indicators, there exist certain substantial geographical disparities. Contraceptive prevalence and Sexual and Reproductive Health care is excessively low in a large number of isolated areas. Access to the public health system in these areas is comparatively low to other regions in the country. In addition, the absence of quality SRH care is further exacerbated by high levels of gender inequality and civil strife in certain areas of the country.

Goal: To ensure that all people, particularly the poor, marginalized and underserved are able to exercise their rights, and have access to SRH information, education and quality services including family planning.

Main objective:
  • To reduce barriers and inequality in order to develop access to gender sensitive SRH services specifically targeting people in underserved areas.
