Residential Workshop for Youth | The Family Planning Association of Sri Lanka

Residential Workshop for Youth

Today the world is home to 1.8 billion young people under the age of 25. This is the largest generation of young people, ever, and are a vastly diverse group of individuals.

Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) promotes the fundamental principles of a young person’s right to education about their bodies, relationships and sexuality. And the full range of information, skills and values to make informed decisions about their health and sexuality. CSE promotes gender equality and the prevention of violence against women and girls.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) people are especially marginalized, as are many young people who have survived sexual violence and rape. When LGBTIQ issues are taught positively CSE can challenge the rise in violent homophobia and transphobia globally.

A 2 day residential training programme for youth on Comprehensive Sexuality Education was held at The Ecumenical Institute for Study and Dialogue (EISD), Colombo 6 on the 27th and the 28th of October 2018.

It was organized by FPA Sri Lanka’s Youth Advisory Technical Committee and the Advocacy Unit.
