The outreach unit of FPA Sri Lanka organised a two day Capacity Building training programme

The outreach unit of FPA Sri Lanka organised a two day Capacity Building training programme on the 10th and 11th of August at the “Chinthana” training center in Nainamadama. 50  Volunteer Health Assistants (VHA) together with 25 other health service staff attached to the  07 Suwa seva centers located in Ampara, Batticaloa, Colombo, Koggala, Matara, Nuwaraeliya, and Killinochchi participated at this event. The continuous purpose of our organisation is to upgrade the skills of service providers by giving them training on SRH, GBV (gender based violence), SGBV protocol, Family Panning methods, abortion, STI, VCT etc. The SRH lecture was delivered by Dr Sumithra Tissera, Director Medical of FPA Sri Lanka which was followed by a question and answer session. 

 Health assistants from each service delivery point also presented educational dramas/role plays on SRH issues/situations faced by health staff. The programme ended with certificates being awarded to staff attached to the AusAID project in appreciation of their contribution to the success of the project during the last 4 years. National Council members, Hon. Secretary, Mr, Nimal Wirasekara, Hon. Treasurer Mr Ismeth Issadeen, Hon. Past President, Major Shirly De Silva, Executive Director Ms Thushara Agus, Deputy Executive Director Mr Lasantha Gunaratne, Mr Suhail Junaid (Director Marketing) and other FPA Sri Lanka staff were present at this memorable event.
