"Let's Talk"
"Get the facts - Protect YourselfThink Wise - Don't Stigmatize"
"Let's Talk" campaign was established to raise awareness on HIV and to reduce Stigma & Discrimination using cricket and the spirit of cricket under the 'Think Wise' banner. The most recent initiative of the campaign was its activities in conjunction with the ICC World Twenty20 Sri Lanka 2012. FPA Sri Lanka spearheaded the local partnership of the "Let's Talk" campaign alongside the international partnership of ICC, UNAIDS and UNICEF.
The activities of the campaign commenced in August and concluded in October. It included key components such as the "Let's Talk" poster distribution (in all 3 languages with an island-wide coverage including government and non-government institutions), "Let's Talk" road show (covering 114 locations island-wide spreading awareness on HIV and linking the people to FPA Sri Lanka's 'Happy Life' centre), "Let's Talk" quiz (done online and offline generating over 1500 responses) and player interactions with the West Indies and the South African cricket teams. The player interactions were considered as significant highlights of the campaign. This is not only because children and young people got an opportunity to meet key players of the respective teams to raise awareness using cricket and the spirit of cricket but also because the draw of the Let's Talk quiz winners and the award ceremony which took place during the interactions. The quiz draw took place on 20 September at the Colts cricket ground with the West Indies team and the award ceremony took place on 26 September at the R. Premadasa cricket stadium with the South Africa team. The six winners of the Let's Talk quiz who received tickets for the final match of the ICC cricket World Cup 2012 are; Ms. RadhikaPerera (from Nugegoda),
Mr. Ramesh Hardendra (from Maharagama), Mr. DulithaNelakaWanniarachchi (from Colombo), Ms. W.E.P. DineshaManori (from Thanamalwila), Ms. MadhaviAndradi (from Mount Lavinia) and Mr. NishanLakshitha (from Kalutara).
The campaign also included global Public Service Announcements (PSA) featuring star players such as Kumar Sangakkara and VirendraSehwag, which was played during the World Cup matches in all grounds.

Our Advocacy efforts
Action plan for Young Persons Health Policy implementation for the Uva Province
Key officials of the Uva Provincial Council and FPA Sri Lanka met at the Uva Provincial Council premises in Badulla on 3 September 2012 in order to create an action plan for the implementation of the Policy and Strategic Plan of the Health of Young Persons. The parties have now completed this activity and are exploring means of successful implementation to improve the health of young persons in the Uva Province.
FPA meets FEB to provide SRH services for migrant workers
Key officials and staff of FPA Sri Lanka met with the Foreign Employment Bureau (FEB) to offer Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services for the migrating workers. This was organized on 13 September 2012 by the FPA Sri Lanka SuwaSewa Centre in Colombo. The primary objective of this meeting was to establish a partnership with the FEB to execute the activities.
Networking CSOs in the Galle District for SRH-HIV Integration
FPA Sri Lanka together with the Development, Education Institute for Human & Environment Resources Management ,DEIHERM, which is the EU Project (for SRH-HIV integration) Small Grants recipient for cycle 1, organized a workshop for Civil Society Organizations (CSO) in Galle on 23 September 2012. This workshop was organized in order to create a CSO network in Galle to work together in the integrated approach for SRJ-HIV integration. The workshop was able to identify CSO needs and their organizational behavior and challenges while identifying means of working together to achieve a common goal.

Relaxation programme
In order to teach methods of stress reduction and managing day today activities with a healthy mind, a relaxation programme was conducted by the Alokaya Counseling centre at the FPA Sri Lanka auditorium on the 7 September. This programme was very well received by the participants and was found to be most helpful.

Medical camps, mobile clinics and SRH workshops
Aluthgama: A mobile clinic was conducted by the Centre for Family Health at the Lions Club building premises in Aluthgama on 1 September. They also organized a second mobile clinic at the Dharmapala Vidyalaya in Pannipitiya on 9 September which attracted a large number of young people.
Batticaloa: Two mobile clinics and an awareness programme were conducted by the SuwaSewa Centre in Batticaloa during the month of September. The awareness programme was held at RDS building in Eravur on 12
September and the two mobile clinics were held on 18 and 27 September at Suhada clinic centers in Kaththankudy and Oddamavadi respectively. The two clinics were conducted with the objective of offering sexual and reproductive health services for women.
Colombo: Upon a request made by the Caritas Association, a SRH awareness programme was conducted on the 12 September at St. Paul's Training Center in Colombo. The programme was conducted specially for their field coordinators.
Homagama: On a request by the Department of Technical Education and Training,the Information Centre of FPA Sri Lankaconducted a programme on the 26 September at the Technical College at Godagama, Homagama. The objective of this programme was to generate awareness among the youth participants about SRH and the services offered by FPA Sri Lanka.
Kandy: A special workshop on SRH was conducted for the inmates of the Differently-abled Training Centre in Ketawala, Kandy. The Centre for Family Health took the lead in organizing this workshop in the month of September.
NuwaraEliya: Four SRH programmes were conducted by the SuwaSewa centre in Nuwara Eliya during September. The first on 8thSeptember at Helbode Estate in Bogawantalawa.The second at the GA office in NuwaraEliya on 9 September. The last two programmes were held at WelaiOya and Mathurata Estate on 23 and 25 September respectively.
Nittanbuwa: With the objective of offering SRH related medical services to family members of disabled army soldiers, a mobile medical camp was organized under the Light to Life (LILI) project at the Wathupitiwala community hall premises in Nittabuwa on 29 September. FPA Sri Lanka also organized a SRH workshop on 28 September at the Sleekline Garments in Nittabuwa.
