CAAPP Project – Selection Committee Meeting

Representatives from key organizations, including UNICEF Sri Lanka, UNFPA Sri Lanka , the French Development Agency, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, the Health Promotion Bureau, The French Embassy, the EU Delegation and Dr. Ruchitha Perera (FPA Executive Director Designate) met on the 18th of August 2023 to finalize proposals submitted by NGOs for the CAAPP project.

The project aims to make a significant impact on all menstruating individuals by: improving menstrual health and hygiene; ending menstrual stigma and discrimination; realizing human rights to water and sanitation; addressing the lack of adequate WASH facilities in schools; and changing societal perceptions of menstruation and womanhood. A call for applications was made, requesting Non Governmental Organizations to submit their innovative and sustainable proposals outlining activities to address period poverty, improve access to sustainable and affordable menstrual hygiene products, change harmful cultural norms and practices to end period stigma and facilitate menstrual hygiene education in the Northern and Central provinces.

The French Embassy in Sri Lanka supports the CAAPP Project in partnership with FPA Sri Lanka.
