Capacity Building Programme for Public Health Midwives and Nursing Officers

A one-day programme was organized by the Koggala SDP addressing topics relating to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS). Participants represented 20 MOH offices and 10 Base and Regional Hospitals covering the entire Galle district. Nurses are uniquely positioned to address the sexual and reproductive health needs of all people and populations at all stages of life (childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and old age). Nurses who receive extensive and accurate training in SRH are likely to provide higher-quality care in this field. Investing in SRH education is a key focus at FPA. Educated and empowered service providers ensure a comprehensive and caring service. Special thanks to the Regional Director of Health Services in Galle, who coordinated the programme with FPA Sri Lanka, supported by UNFPA Sri Lanka and DFAT- Australia.
