Steps taken towards combating period poverty in Sri Lanka – Collective Action Against Period Poverty (CAAPP) Project

The French Embassy in Sri Lanka, in partnership with FPA Sri Lanka, has launched the Collective Action Against Period Poverty (CAAPP) Project to promote the inclusion and empowerment of menstruators in Sri Lanka. The CAAPP project team embarked on their first visit to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the Central Province, which have shown interest in combating period poverty. These NGOs primarily work with women and children on child protection and gender-based violence and are keen to make an impact by tackling period poverty as well. The team has successfully disseminated project information to the NGOs and eagerly awaits innovative and sustainable proposals to combat #periodpoverty in their areas.
